Our annual toiletries drop box drive was conceived and initiated in April '06 based upon the public's interest in Hospitality For The Homeless.

Our drop box drive is our version of a can drive, a winter coat or a toy drive.

Our second annual drop box campaign will stretch from the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach to Williamsburg. The community drive is supported by over 120 business and civic drop box location partners and runs from 4/20-4/30.

Our drop boxes invite travel-size toiletries donations from the public for our re-packaging into care kits for those in need.

Our care kit program has provided year-round support to needs-based agencies and shelters across Hampton Roads, including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the YWCA, the Dwelling Place, ForKids, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the City of Norfolk Office to End Homelessness, among others, since we first introduced it in February '06.

The toiletries that are the key components of our care kit program include:

  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Lotion
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Disposable Razors

These amenities are re-packaged into zip lock care kits with the help of student volunteers at work shops conducted by Hospitality For The Homeless at schools and congregations across Hampton Roads.

Participating students receive a sense of accomplishment and community service hours of credit in exchange for their hands-on support.

There is no cost for our recipient partners ( American Red Cross, etc.) to receive our monthly care kit support.

All we ask is that they tell a friend about Hospitality For The Homeless.
